About this wine :
Fermentation and aging with natural yeasts in large oak barrels from local oak forests and in French oak barriques.Delicately spicy, mineral aroma - pure elegance, finesse, a hint of flint. Long and salty finish. The power of Grauer Burgunder (Pinot Gris) and the elegance of Weißer Burgunder (Pinot Blanc) give our Cuvée Victor a unique and intense structure. For poultry and veal, the full-bodied and mineral wine serves as a perfect partner. Burgundian dishes like Jambon persillé and Pâté en croûte are a highlight!
James Suckling - "An extremely elegant white pinot cuvee, with a finely etched palate that is remarkably cool and subtle for the exceptionally warm 2018 vintage. Great, underplayed power that slowly flexes its muscles at the very long, stony finish. So much life ahead of it! Drink or hold."
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - "The 2018 Cuvée Victor is pure and deep yet bright and delicate and also flinty on the elegant nose that displays bright fruit aromas. On the palate, this is a rich and textured yet refined and elegant blend of Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc that reveals the crystalline acidity and finesse of the Nahe, which makes this a pretty unique wine. 13.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in August 2022."
Falstaff - "In the aroma familiar domestic fruits, apples and pears. Slight reduction. And some wood. On the palate a finely chiseled attack. Intense, but not bold. Burgundian accents in its spiciness and elegance. Saline, creamy, spicy. Of broad stature, but by no means warm."

The Schlossgut Diel vineyards, castle and winery are of great historical significance. The winery was purchased by the Diel family in 1802 from Baron Dalberg, who had managed to prevent its confiscation by Napoleon’s troops in 1789. Today the winery is owned by prominent gourmand and wine aficionado Armin Diel, who made the estate famous in the late 1980s. This family estate owns 3 top sites in the Village of Dorsheim, the Goldloch, Burgberg and Pittermännchen, all were classified as Grand Cru in the historic Prussian Classification Map from 1901. Diel is one of few who still vinifies each Grosses Gewächs site at each Pradikät. Schlossgut Diel’s wines are famous for their finest and grace as well as their beautiful harmony between fruit and mineral.
Since 2006, Caroline Diel – the daughter of Armin who learned wine-making at Germany’s most famous wine university, Geisenheim, as well as at famous estates such as Château Pichon Lalande and Domaine de la Romanée Conti – has been responsible for the vineyard and cellar work. From then on, the already superb wines from this estate have become even more refined and elegant.
