About this wine:
Candialle “GRAN SELEZIONE PLI” Chianti Classico DOCG is an Italian dry red wine from Tuscany, it is flagship wine crafted by Candialle. 100% Sangiovese that carefully selected from “Pli”, their most famous and possibly oldest single vineyard of that area. Awarded 93 points from Antonio Galloni while the 2013 vintage got 92 points from Robert Parker and 94 points from James Suckling. Aged for 36 months in French oak barrels, it is full-bodied, rich and concentrated, exhibiting a deep purple-red hue that is visually captivating. Intoxicating aromas of violets, black cherries, spice box, and leather permeate the air. On the palate, it delivers an abundance of bold and luscious fruit flavors, showcasing remarkable depth and complexity. Its structure is both intricate and elegant, reminiscent of the finesse found in Burgundy wines. The tannin is robust and tight, the finish is long and lingering, leaving a lasting impression and a desire for more. Truly the pinnacle of Candialle's winemaking prowess, this wine is a testament to their commitment to crafting exceptional Sangiovese.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - "Candialle is an under-the-radar estate in Panzano in Chianti owned by Josephin and Jarkko Peränen. The 2013 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione is an impressive wine that makes me very curious to taste more wines from an estate I admittedly know little about. This is an elegant and generous wine that packs lovely intensity into a compact, mid-weight delivery. The bouquet is redolent of wild berry, garden herb and pressed violets. This wine will be difficult to locate because a mere 900 bottles were produced."
James Suckling - "A really pretty nose that shows so much floral character, such as crushed violets and dried herbs. Citrus and orange rind, too. Full body, tight and polished tannins and a long, minerally finish. Such a pure and refined wine. Drink now or hold."
Vinum - "From a vineyard planted with 10,000 plants per hectare, the Concadoro of Panzano: bouquet of cherries, leather and dried flowers; harmonious texture, acidity and tannins in balance, long, polished finish. Excellent workmanship."

About CANDIALLE:
Candialle is a member of the “viticulturist union of Panzano” in Chianti. Their objectives are to enhance and optimise minimalist, natural winegrowing, which could lead Panzano to being the first complete organic viticultural region of Italy. This exquisite boutique winery owned and managed by a couple team, Jarkko and Josephin Peränen, their vineyard is located at the southern tip of the “Conca d’oro”, the golden bowl, situated just below the village of Panzano in Chianti. The valley is formed like an amphitheatre and is characterised by its unique Galestro soil, a combination of limestone, clay, sandstone, and chalk, together with the southern and south-western exposure, altitudes between 300 and 360 metres, build up the perfect terrain for the demanding and late ripening Sangiovese grape. When it comes to winemaking, Candialle is the only winery in the region to still use the old albarello or ancient bush vine trellising systems, all fermentations are native and aging happens not only in concrete, stainless steel, and used Burgundy barrels, they are the first in Italy to use Clayvers, which is a unique ceramic egg-shaped container made in Liguria and are fired at high temperatures that are much less porous than barrels. Their wines not only show stunning flavours and aroma of fruit when young but age extremely well.
